Job Summary: Reporting to the President, the Process Improvement Manager will assist in the implementation of Six Sigma and Lean methodologies to drive Process Improvement and Cost Reduction in all aspects of the business, driving operational excellence across manufacturing processes. enhancing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reducing customer churn by establishing a robust quality department, looking at new equipment, assessing and implementing new technologies, and growing a dynamic team. The Process Improvement Manager will lead efforts to secure grants to fund these initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and innovation within the organization.
Salary Range: $100,000.00 – $120,000.00.
Location(s): Hybrid (mix of onsite and remote work) – the ideal candidate will be able to work onsite on a weekly basis and be able to commute to both of our manufacturing plants when needed. Locations include: 335 Steelcase Road East (L3R 1G3) and 61 McPherson Street (L3R 3L3).
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations of the quality team, ensuring that all quality control processes are followed consistently.
Develop and implement quality assurance policies and procedures to maintain high standards in product manufacturing.
Collaborate with the quality team to conduct regular audits, inspections, and reviews to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Foster a strong quality culture by training and mentoring quality team members, emphasizing the importance of accuracy, attention to detail, and continuous improvement.
Act as the primary point of contact for all quality-related issues, providing leadership and guidance to resolve any quality concerns promptly.
Align process improvement initiatives with quality objectives to ensure that all improvements contribute to higher product quality and customer satisfaction.
Coordinate closely with the quality team to ensure that process changes do not compromise product quality.
Use data from quality control processes to identify areas for process improvement, ensuring a holistic approach to manufacturing excellence.
Establish a clear framework for identifying, prioritizing, and implementing process improvement projects.
Utilize proven methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma to guide the improvement process.
Set measurable targets and track progress towards goals.
Develop a system to track and analyze OEE data for all critical equipment.
Identify and address the root causes of downtime, speed losses, and quality defects.
Implement solutions to optimize machine utilization and improve overall production efficiency.
Analyze current production processes to identify bottlenecks, delays, and redundancies.
Redesign workflows to eliminate waste, reduce cycle times, and improve throughput.
Implement visual management tools (e.g., Kanban boards) to enhance communication and coordination.
Collaborate with the customer experience director to identify and address customer complaints and feedback.
Implement process changes to improve product quality, reduce errors, and improve turnaround time.
Monitor customer satisfaction metrics and adjust processes as needed to meet or exceed expectations.
Create a system for employees to submit suggestions and report problems.
Provide training and resources to empower employees to identify and implement improvements.
Recognize and reward employees for their contributions to process improvement initiatives.
Key Experience & Qualifications:
Proven experience in leading quality management teams within a manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory compliance in the relevant industry.
Strong understanding of quality control methodologies, including statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action (CAPA).
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, including both process improvement and quality assurance personnel.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining focus on quality and efficiency.
Experience in balancing process optimization with quality assurance, ensuring that all improvements align with overall business goals.
Knowledge of risk management principles as they apply to both process improvement and quality assurance.
Ability to anticipate potential risks and implement proactive measures to mitigate them, ensuring that both process improvements and quality standards are maintained.
Demonstrated history of successfully leading and implementing process improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment, ideally within the printing or packaging industry.
Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other relevant methodologies.
Possess excellent analytical skills to identify root causes of problems, interpret data, and develop effective solutions.
Experienced with working with data analysis tools and techniques to measure performance, track progress, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Experience with packaging design, production line optimization, and meeting consumer demands.
Experience with packaging, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
Experience optimizing complex workflows, implementing lean manufacturing, and managing technology integration.
Expertise in quality control, data-driven decision-making, and process validation.
