Our Well-being Counsellors are experts in the social and emotional life of girls and the overall well-being of students. They build meaningful relationships with students and their families and are a part of identified students’ Circle of Care. They work closely with faculty, staff and school leadership to build engaging, relevant and culturally responsive social emotional learning programming, as well as provide one-on-one and group and group support as needed.
What You’ll Do:
* Consults and collaborates with faculty in championing students’ well-being
* Provides brief individual and/or group counselling to meet the social, emotional and well-being needs of students
* Participates in Parent-Teacher and/or Counsellor-Parent conferences
* Provides educational workshops for students and parents on topics related to well-being
* In collaboration with the Student Well-being department and the Dean of Inclusive Excellence and Global Citizenship, supports faculty and staff to foster an inclusive community
* Provides support and crisis intervention for students as needed and communicates with appropriate stakeholders in a timely and responsive manner
* Maintains confidential case records and review trends within the community to identify possible interventions in a timely manner.
* Collaborates in the development of a Grade 9-12 Advisory program and works with team members to ensure a whole school approach to well-being skill development
* Provides support for Liaises with BSS Nurses, families, Vice Principals, Dean of Student Well-being and faculty to support student absences (e.g concussion management/prevalent medical conditions/extended absences due to illness) and the return to school
* Supports the student transition between Grade 8 to 9 and the orientation process for incoming Grade 9-12 students
* Actively engages in the Boarding program, consulting with Boarding advisors and providing programming and engagement with Boarding students
High Performing Athlete Program
* As needed, supports students with the significant demands of school and outside school commitments including coordinating with Learning Services for them to create a support plan or academic plan
Administrative
* Monitors and reviews student achievement during the assessment and reporting cycle
* Has ability to understand and interpret data that can be applied to professional and school goals
Who You Are:
* Master or Bachelor of Social Work, Psychotherapy, or other related fields
* Experience in a high school or educational setting
* Expert knowledge of the developmental, social/emotional and educational needs of students
* Demonstrated ability to take initiative, multi-task, adapt to change and work under pressure in a highly rigorous educational setting
* Exceptional interpersonal skills with the proven ability to develop relationships and a caring rapport with students and their families and teachers
* Expertise in developing and facilitating student and parent workshops
* Culturally competent with a positive attitude toward cultural uniqueness and a readiness to accept and respect others

Annual compensation is based on our Faculty Grid, which factors in qualifications and up to 12 years of teaching experience:
* Entry to 6 Years: $69,000 – $98,000
* Over 6 Years: $99,000 – $134,000
* Future Growth: Rates are set to increase for the 2026–2027 academic year.
